The Muni University Students’ Guild, the Guild Government, takes up student issues with University management through the Office of the Dean of Students.
How the Guild works
Guild officials are elected by the student body: the Guild President and Vice President, the Guild Speaker and Deputy, the Secretary General and Deputy, ministers and Guild Representative Councillors (GRCs). During elections, students form their own parties within the University rather than align with national political parties. Two student representatives, one female and one male, sit on the University Council.
What the Guild does
- Orientation: Guild officials help new students find hostels and settle in during orientation week
- Freshers’ Ball: the annual event that marks the beginning of the academic year
- Sport: sports competitions and the University’s part in the Arua District Tournament
- Culture: the annual Cultural Gala, where students’ associations compete
